The problem

Running a business means doing the same things over and over. None of this is hard. All of it takes time. And all of it gets forgotten when things get busy.

  • Mon 08:12

    An inquiry comes in.

Someone reads it, looks up the company, estimates the effort and decides whether it's worth pursuing.

  • Tue 14:30

A quote has to go out.

Someone gathers the details, does the math, writes it up and gets it approved.

  • Thu 10:05

    A contract is signed.

Someone checks that it came back, files it and plans the invoice.

  • Fri 17:48

    An invoice is overdue.

Someone notices, writes the reminder and decides whether to add a fee.

You don't have an assistant, an office manager or an operations team. catd is that team.

How it works

You write. Pid takes care of it.

You talk to Pid. Pid is the cat of catd. You write to her the way you'd write to a colleague, and she answers in plain language, does the work or hands it on.

Pid is a little grumpy and very reliable. She complains about the effort and then does it properly.

    What's waiting for me today?

  • Pid09:00

Two things. Hofmann Lizenzen needs your approval for the quote. Weber Bau hasn't sent the contract back in nine days.

  • 09:01

Send Weber Bau a friendly reminder.

  • Pid09:01

Fine. The draft is ready. It goes to a customer, so I'll send it once you say yes.

Your work becomes pipelines. A pipeline is one of your recurring processes, written down once. You describe the process to Pid, she proposes the steps, and once you agree, the pipeline exists.

No forms, no flowchart editor. You change a pipeline by asking Pid.

Every case is a job. Each time a pipeline runs, it runs for one concrete case: the quote for Müller GmbH, the contract with Weber Bau. AI agents work through the steps of each job in the background.

One page shows what is running, what is done, and what is waiting.

You step in only when it matters. Most steps need no one. When a decision is open, information is missing or something should be approved, the job stops and asks: with the context and a recommended answer.

You decide, and the job moves on. Try it on the card.

The quote is ready: 24 licences, €11,520 net. Hofmann got a 10 % discount on the last order.

Should the quote go out with the 10 % discount again?

The daemon for your business
The name

catd is not a typo.

On Unix, background services are called daemons and end in a d: sshd, httpd, systemd. A daemon starts with the machine, runs quietly and only speaks up when it needs something. catd is the daemon for your business.

Every running process has a PID, the number you use to watch it or stop it. Pid is catd's process ID with fur: lazy, a little grumpy, convinced she knows better, and in control of everything anyway.

Why catd
  • Work leaves your desk.

catd doesn't show you what to do. It does it, and only brings you what needs a human.

  • One conversation instead of ten tools.

You talk to Pid. She knows the state of every pipeline and every job.

  • Your processes, your way.

Pipelines are your own steps in your own words, and you change them by asking Pid.

  • Nothing happens behind your back.

Every step is visible. Anything that moves money, deletes data or goes to a customer waits for your yes.

  • Honest about what it knows.

Pid doesn't make up numbers, names or results. When she's missing something, she says so and asks.

Your business runs. Pid keeps watch.

Tell Pid what keeps you busy every week. She turns it into a pipeline.
